Above: Stair project: We replaced a dated, black wrought iron stair rail with this beautiful balustrade & cherry handrail. We Installed three full newell posts and a half newell post against the wall and ran the cherry handrail and balustrade on two flights of stairs.Varnished the handrail with a satin finish and painted the balusters & posts white.

Our client wanted more shade on her patio / deck so we removed the old fence and extended the existing posts & pillars upwards. We ran 2x6 redwood joists from the exterior of the house to create a structure to support creeping plants and / or a sailcloth canopy. The detail on the redwood handrail and the pillars replicates other woodwork detail on the house exterior. The whole structure was oil primed and painted white to match the house trim

Above: Stairwell & hall remodel. We installed a jute runner with binding on a flight of stairs using carpet tack & rods. The rods are mainly cosmetic. The runner is wrapped around each nose and sits on a pad that is stapled to each tread.
The stairwell / hall hadn’t been painted since the mid 1960’s. The old floor tiles were glued down with asbestos glue so we left them in place and we floated a pre-finished Brazilian Tigerwood floor on the old tile. Installed six new interior pine doors and one new doug fir exterior door. Installed new baseboard & casing a doug fir hand rail with a cherry stain & satin finish and a cherry ledge. Painted the stair treads & risers with an epoxy floor paint. Painted the walls, ceiling & trim. We installed three new ceiling light fixtures and on wall sconce. New switches and cover plates.

Above: Bathroom Medicine Cabinet. Having completed the bathroom remodel featured on the Projects Page, our client asked us to make & install a custom cherry medicine cabinet to mount on a narrow wall beneath a wall sconce. We used oil rubbed bronze hinges & knob to match the bathroom hardware.

We made & installed this custom shelving unit for a client in San Rafael. They requested a 16 inch deep finished maple shelving unit for their office.

Above: Roof deck. Before, during & after pictures of a roof deck that we replaced in San Francisco. The original deck was built on only two pressure treated joists. We added two more joists and a ledger to give additional and much needed support for the redwood deck boards. We set five 4x4 redwood posts and built balustrades using 2x2 redwood. The completed deck was coated with a redwood stain / sealer.
Above: Here we installed T&G cedar wall cladding, Cedar handrail & stainless rail system. We installed new front door, Andersen windows, light fixture and house number.
